Orientation 2012 - Headstart Workshops

Headstart is a part of WITT's orientation week, offering new and returning students workshops that are designed to give you a head start at WITT.

Headstart workshops cover a variety of topics such as student services, study tips, health and disability services, campus tours, StudyLink information, IT help and issuing of student ID cards.

HEADSTART WORKSHOPS:

Meet the student support team - Our purpose is to help students succeed at WITT. Your purpose is to succeed. Let’s meet!

 Issuing of student ID cards - For those who want to get their ID card issued early. Please note - you need to be fully enrolled and classes are booked in for these sessions during your first week on campus. 

 StudyLink staff on campus - Student loans, student allowances, other entitlements – get it sorted!

 IT@WITT - Learn about computer lab facilities, email, network access, wireless and internet usage.

 Budget Advisory Service - Money, money, money – living on a student wage and making the dollar go further!

 Library Tour - The key to success and study tips. Too good to miss.

 Campus Tour - Current students will be available to provide information and friendly advice and take you on a tour of campus, showing you where your classes are located, facilities of interest and where the best places are to park.

 Health & Disability Services  - WITT provides a wide range of supports and services for students with impairment and/or health issues. Come hear about what’s on offer and how you can access them.

 Computers for Assignment Writing - Knowing your way around the computer makes writing those assignments so much easier!

 Befriend the campus photocopiers - Make your life easier and master the copiers on campus before you need to use them. 

 Tertiary Terminology - Make learning easier and understand the jargon in preparation for study.

 You as a learner - Understanding ... how you learn and sometimes why you don’t, learning in the tertiary environment. Making learning happen – easily and effectively

 Understanding Powhiri - Everything you have wanted to know and never felt comfortable to ask!

 Organising yourself for success - Are you one of those who miss assignment deadlines, forget stuff, got notes all over the place and turn up to class late!! This workshop is for you.
