New Art Diplomas

The WITT Art + Design department is excited to launch two brand new diplomas in 2018.

For those wishing to pursue a career in design such as graphic design, web design, or as a digital media artist, the NZ Diploma in Digital Media and Design (Level 5) is a good place to begin specialising. Papers include Typography, Graphic Design, Web Design, Industry Practices and Portfolio, plus four cores, all taught by industry experts. Our courses are designed to prepare you for the design industry by setting real-world projects. This qualification is suitable for people who have a solid foundation of design/digital skills and wish to build up to a more professional level. If you don’t yet have the necessary pre-requisite skills, then check out our popular NZ Certificate in Digital Media and Design (Level 3) which will get you up and running with the basics.

Skills in art and creativity are highly sought after, so our new NZ Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5) is perfect for those looking to gain a nationally recognised qualification in art. As well as painting, new media, and drawing, students study core papers and finish off their year with an exhibition. This qualification is suitable for people who have a good foundation knowledge of art practices – if you don’t meet our entry criteria for this level 5 qualification then consider the NZ Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 4) which runs in semester 2.

Each diploma has four core papers and these are taught in conjunction with the other diploma. This offers you the chance to network and be exposed to a much greater variety of students studying related disciplines.

Designed to lead into Level 6 study, both of these diplomas have a level 6 diploma scheduled to start in 2019. This means you can study in Taranaki and get nationally recognised qualifications.
