Getting a head start

The popular Headstart programme again proved to be an ideal way to introduce new students to life on campus, says Margaret Smith, WITT’s Headstart co-ordinator.

It was held on Wednesday February 18 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm and on Thursday February 19 between 9am and 3pm.

“We’ve run Headstart for a number of years and each year we have more and more students attending. This year we had over 60 on the Thursday!’’ Margaret says.

“The students met members of WITT support team, and they were able to answer any questions the students had about WITT.

“They got a tour of the campus so they knew where everything is and some valuable advice on how to balance their new lifestyle, so at to fit study into it.

Margaret, who is also a student counsellor, said with Headstart being held the week before WITT’s new academic year started, there was plenty of time for new students to get the year off to a good start while the campus was relatively deserted.
